Uniformity After Retrofit
Agricultural MILs have evaluated more than 8,800 irrigation systems covering more that 350,000 Florida acres. With producers help in implementation of the recommendations produced by the MIL, there is potential to save more than 31 billion gallons of water per year. Refer to the graphs above and notice the Distribution Uniformity (DU), displayed as a percentage, in the bottom left corners. The percentage initially for this system was 66%, and was improved to 86% after a proper retrofit upgrade. The increase in uniformity improves the efficiency, crop yield, and also reduces the overall run times needed per crop, which in turn saves water and money.
We generate the cost savings back to the producer with proper upgrades and retrofit programs. These savings are displayed on page 3 of the sample report above.
The costs to conserve water through MIL services is very competitive when compared to the costs to develop new sources of water.
